INTECH Technology
The INTECH® discs are stacked on the INTECH® spine. The discs are color-coded by micron size, and are assembled according to your water filtration requirements. The spine assembly has a spring compression unit and an internal piston which operate during alternate filtering or backwashing modes.

The spine assembly is specially designed to compress the micron-grooved discs inside a corrosion and pressure resistant housing. Inside the housing, a spring and the pressure difference compress the discs tightly during the filtration process, forcing the water to flow between the grooves and traps of the stacked discs.

INTECH® Automatic Backflush Operation:

Activated by a pre-defined command (differential pressure or time) alternate units of the INTECH® system go into backwash operation. The inlet valve is shut as the drain is automatically opened.

During the backwash process, the compression spring is released and the pressure difference is eliminated. The spine piston climbs up, releasing the pressure on the discs. Tangential jets of clean water are hydraulically pumped at high pressure in the opposite direction through nozzles at the center of the spine. The discs spin free and clear, loosening the trapped solids. Solids are quickly and efficiently flushed out through the drain.

Automatic Disc filters
Modular, Medium & High Capacity, Semi Automatic Disc Filtration System. The Number of filters in the battery will standardly range between 3 to 8 according to the needs of application, i.e.-the flow rate.

In the 3" Angle Filter Battery, inside each filter unit is one element of filtration. In the 4" Super Leader battery, inside each filter unit are two elements of filtration, composed of a stack of grooved discs The two elements of filtration work togather in parallel.

The three way valve on each filter's inlet, has basically 2 positions:

a. Filtration position - Inlet to the filter open - allows flow of the source water from the inlet manifold into the filter and through the elements of filtration to the outlet manifold and the to customer.

b. Backwash position - Inlet to the filter close, and drainage of the filter open - allows clean water from the outlet manifold to flow on the opposite direction in to the filter, clean the discs of the filter elements, and flush the solid impurities from the filter to the drainage through the drain manifold. The cleaning process of the disc filtration element, involves partial releasing of the pressure from the compressed discs, and flushing of the discs with the full flow rate (of the filter) in opposite direction to the drain.
This Technology is recommended to good and average qualities of source water, with 40 to 120 mesh grades of filtration. Filtration process begins and continuous supply of clean water goes on, once the flow of source water to the system starts, and until it ends.

The automatic start of backwash processes is run by a controller. When the filter is loaded (with solid impurities) the difference of pressure between the inlet and the outlet of the filter rises. A differential pressure gage detects the critical difference of pressure that was programmed on it, and transmits a signal to the control unit which then starts and runs a backwash process of the filters in the battery one after the other. Only one filter at a time is cleaned while other filters in the battery continue to supply clean water to the downstream, and for the backwash process.
