Chemistry Character
MoSi2 heating elements is used in the high temperature under oxidizing atmosphere. It will form the SiO2 film which can keep the element from being melted. During the oxidizing process, the SiO2 protecting film is formed again when the element continues to be used. The MoSi2 heating element must not be used in the temperature between 400C and 700C for a long time, otherwise the element will be cremated under the strong oxidizing function in the low temperature.

The program of MoSi2 heating elements includes seven grades with specific features for use in demanding applications and atmospheres, including nitrogen, hydrogen, vacuum and mixtures of endogas and reducing atmospheres.

In addition to MoSi2 elements in standard shapes and sizes we provide special designed MoSi2 elements according to customer needs, enabling an optimized element design for each particular application.

Molybdenum disilicide MoSi2 heating elements are resistance type heating elements made of a dense ceramic-metallic material which can produce furnace temperatures approaching 1850 C. Although more expensive than traditional metallic elements, MoSi2 elements are known for their longevity due in part to a protective quartz layer that forms on the surface of the element “hot zone” during operation.

Duralite MoSi2 elements are made to industry standard established resistance values, dimensions and geometries, and therefore are interchangeable with other manufacturers of molybdenum disilicide elements. The key difference between Duralite MoSi2 and other MoSi2 suppliers is that Duralite MoSi2 elements are exceptionally priced.

Duralite MoSi2 heating elements are graded in two maximum temperature ranges of 1700C and 1800C. Elements are available in many shapes and forms (see examples shown below). Specifically, we offer the following MoSi2 styles: “U-shaped” (most common), “W-shaped”, and “Straight-shaped”, with or without right angle or oblique angle bends.

Each element is specified by a “hot zone” diameter (de) and length (Le), and a “cold zone” diameter (du) and length (Lu).

.General description of l type molybdenum disilicide MoSi2 heating element

1)Definition:MoSi2 heating element is a resistance generate-heating component made from MoSi2 or the basic material.

2.Advices of installation

1)MoSi2 heating element is very brittle under room temperature and plastic under high temperature.So it's the best way for installation of U type element to hang it vertically.Such way is to avoid putting the mechanical stress directly to the hot zone of the element,otherwise,the element will broken easily.If it needs hang horizontally,pls chose a support of high temperature refactory.

2)Pls put the taper part of the element bottom into the furnace chamber to avoid local overheating.

3)The lead wire should be a little longer than the linear distance between the element and the bus to avoid putting the stress to the element.

4)Don't tighten the screw of clamps too much at one time.It can be tightened when the element heats up to high temperature because of the element's plasticity.

5)The temperature of clip should be less than 200°C,the contact voltage between the clip and the element should be less than 0.1V.

6)The distance between the lower end of the clip and the upper surface of the through brick should be more than 50mm,to avoid the radiation heat conduction to the clip.

7)To avoid damage,170A couldn't be used for long term for the element of φ6/12mm,300A couldn't be used for long time for the element of φ9/18mm.
